Outer shield ring is bevelled to offer poor grip for twisting
The hardened steel material combined with the bevelled shape makes obtaining a tight grip on the ring virtually impossible.
The retainer plate on the back of the door prevents the cylinder being levered out in the event of a chisel type tool being driven into the stile behind the shield ring.
