Product Uses The Boiler Buddy is a premium quality, in-line, high efficiency, magnetic filter that uses award winning*, patented flux plates and a magnet to remove ferrous particles from system water. From technology that is used in Formula 1 motor racing, the Boiler Buddy has been designed to complement the Fernox cleaning range, ensuring the collection of magnetite, rust and magnetic particles which are present in central heating systems and prevent potential component damage by erosion from circulating debris or deposition. Unlike conventional filters the patented plate design not only traps magnetite to sub-micron levels, but it also ensures that the filter does not restrict flow, even when full. The clear housing enables the build-up of debris to be observed and offers a unique opportunity to provide a window on the central heating system for condition monitoring. Application The Boiler Buddy is connected directly into 22mm copper pipework using conventional pump connectors. Boiler Buddy can be installed horizontally or vertically. The unit has been conveniently designed to be able to slot directly into the space provided when removing a circulator pump to fit a condensing boiler in an existing system. The off-set inlet and outlet ports enable the Boiler Buddy to be fitted flush to a wall in existing pipework.
How to clean the Boiler Buddy magnetic core: 1. Close off the valve connectors at the inlet and outlet to isolate the Boiler Buddy from the system. 2. Unscrew the valve connectors and Boiler Buddy slides out easily without the need to disturb pipework. Remember to employ best practice to protect property for wet works. 3. Remove the tamper proof clip, loosen the clamp and slide off. 4. Either rinse the magnetic core under flowing water, or brush off dry. In either case, cleaning via water flow of brushing should be effected perpendicular to the magnets. Care should be taken to dispose of contaminant is appropriate manner. 5. Once clean replace the core, refit the washer and clamp, reconnect and continue use.
